Klein, Thorpe & Jenkins' Carmen P. Forte, Jr. negotiated an RDA to create a new transit-oriented residential property, called the “River Grove Station". The property was previously vacant for several years, and its proximity to the River Grove Metra station, just steps away, makes it a true transit-oriented development in the heart of River Grove. The project includes 80-unit high-end residential buildings with various amenities, considerable public infrastructure improvements including the extension public streets, green areas, upgraded parking facilities and a public park.
Carmen's work on this $75M+ project, with TIF incentives for site acquisition and demolition, resulted in the construction of pedestrian friendly and transit-oriented layout to the overall project, including the new construction of several residential buildings, and the adaptive reuse of a mostly vacant office building for residential use. The Village's exciting new residential center includes various unrivaled amenities, and was coupled with considerable public infrastructure improvements, including the extension of Center Avenue and the creation of a public park, with new first-floor commercial uses at the buildings.
