On November 14th, 2025, The Oak Lawn Public Library “OLPL” will be hosting a day-long seminar on library administrative training, including a presentation from Thomas Melody regarding how the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) affect libraries and their staff.

Seminar Overview: 

The seminar is a networking and training event to discuss relevant issues facing libraries, administrators, and management. The event will consist of various informational sessions including Thomas Melody, as well as members of the OLPL, Metropolitan Family Services, and Blissful Light.

Drawing from his thorough knowledge of all State and federal labor and employment laws, Thomas will give a presentation on how the FMLA and ADA will affect libraries moving forward. Thomas will discuss how public libraries can protect the rights of their employees as well as the specifics of what these acts permit.

When and Where: 

The event will take place on November 14th, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM at Moraine Valley Community College located at 9000 W. College Parkway, Building M.

Registration: 

                Registration is required before October 31st, 2025, to attend the event, and is priced at $75 dollars per person. This will also entitle you to a complimentary breakfast and lunch during the seminar.
