Overview
Megan has extensive experience with litigation, labor and employment, police misconduct, and investigations.
Prior to joining Klein, Thorpe and Jenkins, Ltd., Megan spent her career as a dedicated public servant. Most recently, Megan served as Deputy Inspector General at the Cook County Office of Independent Inspector General, where she supervised investigations into fraud, waste, abuse, and misconduct, as well as compliance and program reviews of Cook County government agencies. Megan also served as Deputy Inspector General for the Illinois Department of Human Services Office of Inspector General. There, she oversaw investigations into allegations of abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation committed by State employees against individuals receiving services from State-licensed mental health and developmental disability agencies.
Megan also served as Associate General Counsel and Chief Investigator for the City of Chicago Office of Inspector General’s public safety section, where she conducted oversight over Chicago’s police and police accountability system, and aided the office in being the first City agency released from the consent decree in Illinois v. Chicago. Megan began her legal career with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office, first as a law clerk and then as an Assistant State’s Attorney, where she handled misdemeanor and felony cases, prosecuting numerous bench and jury trials for approximately nine years.
Megan graduated from Denison University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in German in 2005. Before law school, Megan was a Fulbright Scholar and taught English to high school students in Austria. She received her Juris Doctor degree from DePaul University College of Law in 2010.
