Overview

Daniel Bourgault received his B.A. in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Elmhurst University, Honors Program in 2017. In 2022, he earned his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and master’s in Public Policy from The Graduate School at Loyola University Chicago as a member of the dual-degree program. While in law school, as a 711 Student Attorney in the Community Law Center Clinic Daniel served as a Guardian Ad Litem representing the interests of children in legal disputes. Daniel was also a member of Loyola University Chicago’s nationally ranked moot court program as the John H. Calhoun fellow on the Wilhelm C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration team. In this role, Daniel received Honorable Mention awards for the best individual oral advocate at Moot Shanghai 2022 and the Vis East Moot competition, the Gary David Friedman Advocacy Team of the Year, and won 1st place at the Moot Shanghai 2022 international competition.

Since joining Klein, Thorpe, & Jenkins, Ltd. in Fall of 2022, Daniel’s practice includes a wide range of complex civil litigation matters, including civil rights defense, police matters, tort and personal injury matters, property and zoning disputes, administrative adjudications, contract disputes, and environmental matters. Daniel represents a wide range of municipal entities and their employees in such matters in all steps of litigation, from pre-litigation through trial and appeal in federal and state courts.

Daniel is barred in the State of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Daniel also serves as the Chair of the Local Government law Committed of the Chicago Bar Association, and formerly served as Co-Chair of the Environmental Law Committee of the Chicago Bar Association.
