Matthew S. Guerrero received a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts from the University of Iowa in 2010. While there, he also minored in Comparative Literature and studied for an entire school year (2008-2009) in Prague, Czech Republic. Before attending law school, he worked at various local government positions, including The City of Tucson’s Department of Housing and Community Development and at Douglas County Corrections in Omaha, Nebraska, where he worked as a correctional officer.
He received his Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2018. As a student in law school, he served on the Chicago-Kent Law Review and earned a Certificate in International and Comparative Law. Also during that time, he gained significant work experience as a law clerk for the City of Chicago’s Department of Law, where he was a city prosecutor under a 711 license, and as a law clerk for Deutsch, Levy & Engel, Chartered, a commercial litigation firm.
Mr. Guerrero is currently a member of the Chicago, Illinois, and American Bar Associations. He is fluent in Spanish and intermediate in Czech. Additionally, he has written over two dozen plays, some of which have been produced for the stage.
