Background
Gregory T. Smith received his Juris Doctor degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law. While at Chicago-Kent, he was on the Dean's List and an associate editor of the Chicago-Kent Journal of Intellectual Property. Prior to law school he graduated from DePaul University with honor with a Bachelor of Science degree. He is admitted to practice before the Illinois bar, the Northern District of Illinois general bar, and the Seventh Circuit bar.
Publications
Mr. Smith is an author of the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education School Law publication “School Board Practices, Procedures, and Elections” chapter, published in December 2009. He also co-authored a series of articles about the First Amendment in Illinois libraries published by the North Suburban Library System.

Mr. Smith has spoken on a variety of matters including the First Amendment, the Second Amendment, the Library Records Confidentiality Act, and the federal commuter tax benefit..
Practice Areas
Mr. Smith counsels Illinois municipalities, school districts, special districts and corporate clients. He represents government and private clients in a wide range of claims including recently organized labor, First Amendment, Second Amendment, property damage and injury, and breach of contract.
