Construction Law

KTJ attorneys have experience in every aspect of private and municipal construction law and litigation. KTJ has worked with contracting and competitive bidding for many of our clients. We have particularly extensive experience in construction contracting and dealing with contractor/surety problems associated with unsatisfactory construction and construction failure.

Our attorneys have been involved in and counseled our public sector clients on varying competitive bid matters related to construction projects. We have also assisted in the negotiation and review of architects' contracts and those of the general contractor or construction manager relative to school construction projects. We have successfully handled construction litigation relative to these types of projects and have assisted our clients in ensuring timely completion of projects within the agreed upon budget.

We have also reviewed plans and specifications for construction projects, dealt with the Illinois Citizens Preference Law and Prevailing Wage Law, and interpreted what constitutes an "improvement" and a "repair" under the Law. KTJ has been retained to handle a number of matters involving contractor defaults and delays that have threatened or impaired construction projects.
